The Federal High Court in Lagos State has ordered the National Assembly to amend the controversial Section 438 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) which allows the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to detain certain persons. Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN has urged the leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to “obey the rule of law, and uphold the principles of democracy and good governance.” Falana said this on Tuesday in a paper presented at the International Conference hosted by the Community Court of Justice, at Banjul, The Gambia. The senior lawyer also called on ECOWAS to ignore objections made by some of its members and ensure that leaders of member states do not spend more than two terms in office.
