Lagos, May 19, 2021 The Lagos State government, through the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, said it saved property worth N138.54 billion from fire and related emergencies in the last two years.
Mr Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, made this known on Wednesday in Ikeja, during the 2021 ministerial press briefing to commemorate the second year in office of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Bamgbose-Martins, however, said property worth N24.69 billion were lost to fire and related emergencies in the period under review.
He said the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in the last two years recorded landmark achievements, largely due to the tremendous support and encouragement received from the Sanwo-Olu administration.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Mr Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, has said fire destroyed N24.69bn worth of properties in the state in the last two years.
Bamgbose-Martins said this at a ministerial briefing to mark the second year of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration in office in Ikeja.
He said while fire destroyed properties worth N24.69bn, the Lagos State Fire Services was able to save properties worth N138.54bn from being destroyed.
Bamgbose-Martins disclosed that the fire services attended to 1,899 fire calls in the last two years, adding that it reduced the occurrence of fire outbreaks by 10 per cent

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said the state will enforce occupational safety guidelines in work places.
According to him, safety in work places and the worker would no longer be taken for granted.
The governor stated this in Lagos, during an Occupational Safety and Health Conference organised by the state’s Safety Commission in commemoration of this year’s ‘World Day for Safety,’ said, “we will ensure strict enforcement of safety rules and guidelines that are geared towards making the workplace safe and hazard free.’’
The governor was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins.
