SEATTLE – The #5 Washington Huskies took a dramatic comeback win over the Utah Utes in game one Saturday, winning 6-4 after scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Kelley Lynch s three-run home run put the Huskies on top for good.
Washington trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the fifth before a big rally late in the game. In the sixth inning alone, Washington brought nine batters to the plate, scoring five runs to take the lead. The Huskies had five hits in the inning, including Lynch s big home run.
Gabbie Plain was excellent in the circle, facing the minimum in five of seven innings. Plain recorded her 800th career strikeout in the game, making her the fifth Husky ever to reach that mark. Plain joins Danielle Lawrie, Taran Alvelo, Jennifer Spediacci, and Ashley Boek in that regard.
