The Pueblo West High School girls volleyball team faced the uncertainty of whether they would have the chance to step onto the court this season, and once they did, they took the opportunity and ran with it.
The Cyclones finished their first regular season competing in Class 5A last week. The team finished champions of the South-Central League for the 17th time since 2000 and while it is an honor, head coach Casey King said, it holds a different value this year as compared to past seasons.
“In the past, winning the South-Central League didn’t guarantee you anything,” King said. “It was really just an honor that you got, and you were able to put on a t-shirt. For us now, winning the South-Central League is huge because it guarantees you a spot in the playoffs.”
