Some of the best views the city has to offer are on Albuquerque’s West Side. The high vantage point of the mesa provides a great snapshot of the mountains, the valley and the bustling city life. Not that many generations ago, the mesa was mostly void of civilization. Tumbleweeds, coyotes, snakes, rabbits, roadrunners and sand were the main inhabitants. Drivers traveling from Central Avenue along Coors to Alameda Boulevard at night were met with darkness, which was occasionally punctuated by a glowing window inside one of the few homes.
