Sunderland 4 Doncaster Rovers 1
Charlie Wyke smashed the 20-goal barrier by scoring all four goals in Sunderlandâs win over promotion rivals Doncaster Rovers to climb back into the top six.
The 28-year-old striker became the first Black Cats player to score a first half hat-trick since Kevin Phillipsâ in April 1999 before adding his 21st of the season after the restart to close the gap on fifth-place Rovers.
Wykeâs goals all arrived the same way, with his head getting on the end of a cross from the excellent Aiden McGeady in minutes seven, 12, 31 and 54.
There was a Doncaster consolation a minute before his fourth when Sunderlandâs Lee Burge knew very little about a Taylor Richards effort that hit the post and then the goalkeeperâs back to roll in.
