Midwest Dairy Awards Nebraska Division Educational Scholarships to Three College Students

Midwest Dairy announces that three students will receive $500 - $1,500 scholarships to help cover costs as full-time students at an accredited college. Recipients were chosen based on past and present leadership involvement in their school and community, and past and present involvement in the dairy community. On the application, the recipients addressed what they see as the biggest challenge facing the dairy industry and how their future career plans address those challenges.

ALPENA Several Alpena High School athletes were recently honored for by the Big North Conference for their achievements during the 2021 winter season.
In girls basketball, Allie DeRocher earned first team all-conference honors. DeRocher averaged 10.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this season.
Allie Urlaub earned an honorable mention after averaging 5.5 points and 1.3 steals.
In boys basketball, Cooper Bright was named a BNC first-teamer and Mason Mumford earned an honorable mention. Bright averaged better than 18 points per game this season for the Wildcats and nearly eight rebounds per game.
The first Stuff a Truck event took place Saturday afternoon, hosted by Cuddles for Kids.
The Chillicothe Police and Fire Department joined the cause with a goal to fill all three service trucks with stuffed animals.
The fluffy friends collected will be donated to OSF Children s Hospital of Illinois on Valentines Day.
Founder and president of Cuddles for Kids, Taylor Larson said this cause is close to her heart as she was once a patient at OSF as a child, and wants to help kids going through similar situations. Especially right now with COVID it s even more scary to be in the hospital, said Larson. Hopefully they get that sense of comfort from the stuffed animals.
