(Jourdanton) – Senior forward Haileigh “Bear” Ortiz flipped a short jumper in the lane softly through the net as time expired to lift Navarro over Beeville-Jones 50-48 in the area round of the 4A girls basketball playoffs on Friday in Jourdanton.
The Panthers rallied back from a 10-point deficit early in the fourth quarter to tie it on Laylin Sturm’s driving layup with 32 seconds remaining.
With 7.6 seconds left and the game tied, Berklee Andrews took the inbounds pass from Sturm, drove to the right side and passed to Tatum Harborth on the baseline near the right block.

(Pleasanton) – Navarro advanced through the bi-district round of the 4A girls basketball playoffs in dominant fashion Thursday night with a 63-28 dismantling of Bandera at the Plesanton ISD Athletic Complex.
The Panthers overcame cold shooting early to forge a 16-8 lead by the end of the first quarter and pushed the margin out to 17 points, 33-16, by halftime.
Navarro stretched the cushion to more than 30 points in the third quarter and took a 51-23 lead into the fourth.
Panthers head coach Darrell Harborth credited his team for dialing up the defensive intensity after the Bulldogs handled Navarro’ pressure in the early going.

(Pleasanton) – The Navarro girls basketball team survived a cold shooting first half to notch its 17th straight win Friday night, 42-30 over Pleasanton in a District 27-4A road game.
The teams were knotted up 11-all at halftime, but the Panthers heated up to outscore the Eagles 31-19 in the second half.
Sophomore guard Tatum Harborth led all scorers with 13 points. Point guard Laylin Sturm also reached double figures with 11.
Ryanne Hepp, Haleigh Ortiz, and Berklee Andrews added four points apiece. Julia Bumguardner, Karlee Koenig, and Taylor Helms each put in two.
The win keeps Navarro unbeaten in district play with a 6-0 mark in 27-4A games and moves the overall record to 24-1.
