Hastings-Prince Edward’s COVID-19 activity remains relatively high, with continued spread amid both encouraging and concerning signs.
In a telephone interview Tuesday, Dr. Ethan Toumishey of Hastings Prince Edward Public Health said local statistics have improved since April yet variants of the virus continue to cause troubling trends.

He said the region would, if not for the provincial lockdown, likely be at the orange level of Ontario’s coronavirus framework. For much of April it would have been a red zone.
