More than 30 people were arrested on drug charges following a south Lafourche narcotics investigation, authorities said.
Operation Bad BOI was launched late last year and led to the arrests of 33 people over the last two months, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff s Office said. Bad Boi is the street name for heroin, officials said.
Agents obtained eight search warrants for residences, including one on 64th Street in Cut Off which was searched twice in 12 days, the Sheriff s Office said. More than $20,000 was seized as part of the operation.
Sheriff Craig Webre said he hopes the operation sends a clear message to other drug offenders.

The sheriff said that in 2020, 11 people in Lafourche died of overdoses of heroin and opioids.

LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced that 33 people were arrested on various drug counts following the end of an operation that began in late 2020 and that he says targeted the distribution of heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Webre said that eight residences were searched as part of the operation.
“We believe this operation will have significant impact on the availability of heroin, methamphetamine, and especially fentanyl in the southern area of the parish,” said Webre.

Five people were charged after a search of a Golden Meadow home turned up drugs, including a man police suspect of distributing heroin, authorities said Saturday.
Paul Collins, 58, of Golden Meadow and the others were arrested after agents executed a search warrant Thursday at his home on East Main Street, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff s Office.
Narcotics agents had been investigating Collins as a suspect in the distribution of heroin, the Sheriff s Office said.
Agents arrived at the home to conduct a search Thursday and found Collins along with several others inside, the Sheriff s Office said. Agents found small amounts of meth, heroin and drug paraphernalia, which were found to belong to Reed Anderton, Taylor Anderton and Paul Heseltine.
