Officers from South West Command Unit CID led the investigation against 37-year-old Noor Kayani (15.03.83), of Gatton Road, Wandsworth, who was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, 26 February. He had been convicted in December 2020 of Section 18 wounding with intent, having an article with a blade or point, and possession of a controlled Class B drug. The court heard how the dramatic incident unfolded at around 15:30hrs on Sunday, 21 June in Selkirk Road, at the junction with Tooting High Street.

The victim said he momentarily lost his vision from the punch before instinctively lifting his arms to protect himself from the sudden machete blow that followed. He was left with nerve damage to his arm from the attack, which Kayani fled.
