side of the republicans. i think it s about john boehner at this point. fascinating political moment, how does john boehner managed renegade who s have so far defeated him in his own caucus? is he will tok make peace with them? did z he think that he can do better and maintain power by turning his back on them? it is possible that this turns another way? that democrats and republicans overplayed their hand this time? this is an interesting question. they ve been so confident all along. senate majority leader harry reid jammed john boehner didn t give him a face saving compromise like medical device tax repeal. nothing. he kept that senate shut sunday, he ran out the clock. i think they were surprised that he won t kind of work with boehner. what they re doing now is not managing the rest of conservatives they re trying to manage the plan for surrender with, in mind this
the republican brand and reduce it to the blackberry or pasta for that matter. do you think it is the tea party against democrats and republicans in the white house? i think it may have started this way. but right now it really is complicated. right now, look, this is the perfect political storm. you have got the budget. you have got obama care starting implementation october 1st and debt ceiling coming in a couple of weeks. so for political purpose and have you a congress and white house that don t get along and great dysfunction in washington. why doesn t john boehner let members vote on it. instead of the rule that says he can t move if let me ask you this. would senator reid put the issue of the device tax repeal of obama care in front of because there s a lot of democrats that agree there s a problem. the thing with the continuing resolution new that house passed, i think a lot of democrats agree there is problems with obama care that
behind this new plan. they want to delay the health care for one year, right? and other things. the idea is this, john boehner had to attach something or things to this spending bill in order to make sure that he had the votes within his republican caucus because they wanted to keep fighting. the fact that they didn t get the full defunding of obama care didn t stop them, so they picked these issues because on delaying obama care they say that the president himself has already delayed some things, but on the medical device tax repeal, they specifically picked that, don, because it s something that got very broad democratic support earlier this year on a nonbi nonbinding vote, so they re trying for lack of a better way to say it put democrats in a box and in a bind in the senate because they say that they voted on this before and many senators have some important interests in their states that make these
nrcc s push on representative jackson but i know the people come under a lot of pressure and stress, and he has personal issues, i feel for him, and i wish him my best and his family the best. we pray for him. thanks so much on that. on the repeal, one question that comes to mind is why, why bother 33 times going through this exercise when you know what the outcome is going to be. well, listen, first, we have done some very popular things with the small repeals, from the 1099 tax repeal to the medical device tax repeal. what i think we see more and more americans, they re not happy with this legislation. we were promised this was going to be a jobs bill. we were told it would create 400,000 new jobs. we were told that health care premiums were going to go down by $2500 by the end of the first term of the president. we have seen those actually go up by $1200. a lot of the promises that have been made just haven t come to be true. one of my concerns in my community is what s going to
part nonetheless. the speaker of the house john boehner says today s vote could save thousands of jobs. meanwhile some democrats are still criticizing republicans for blocking other parts of this bill. mike emanuel is on capitol hill for all the fun. bipartisan support? what has happened? well, a lot of people look at this withholding tax and say it was a lot of red tape. it complicated the tax code. it restricted cash flow for small businesses. you know, the people we need to hire all the people who are out of work. here is speaker john boehner on the vote to repeal. this tax repeal was part of our plan to help american job creators. it s also a part of the president s jobs plan and i m pleased that he supports our efforts to repeal this tax. i think we owe it to the american people to find common ground. repealing this tax is another step in that effort of finding common ground. the vote today in the house 405 to 16. it is not very often these days
