many of the priorities of america are in the appropriations bill and it s imperative that the senate take those up, imperative hah we get a budget cap deal done, and most importantly it s important that we get tax reform done for the american economy and the american citizen. harris: that brings me to, do you think democrats will try this one thing to the next, try to get in the idea that maybe they can get some of their spending bill wishes in, by putting some pressure on the tax reform conversation, too. even though, i mean, you don t need their votes. but you do for the spending bill. well, we certainly don t for the tax reform bill. i m confident that the good work that s going on in the conference committee, is going to lead to a product that really provides great relief to the middle class and really transforms the may american business operates on the global stage. i really think that that s good for america. you re right, we don t need it for the tax bill and we should push
starting to trend blue and, and, and donald trump. so i take the whole let s look at virginia and apply it to 2018 with a grain of salt. but what we know is to come back the tax reform conversation, to come back to the ideas of passing something as well as something that makes their donors happy, passing that tax reform will make some of their donors very happy. thank you very much for this list. a couple of women on this list as well. check it out on politico.com. when we come back what to watch for in the week ahead.
can tably across the tax code by taxpayers across the country. sandra: here is what one leading democrat chuck schumer how he is responding to this. i ll get your take on the other side. senate republicans are telling house republicans there is no compromise. full repeal or bust. sandra: your response? it would be nice if the chuck and democrats would want to compromise. we haven t seen them around this tax reform conversation. that s unfortunate. once again if he lives in new york, and he does, the reality of it is the rest of the country has been subsidizing high-tax states for a long time. they will likely be a conversation that will lead into the conference committee that will provide some relief at some point but right now the senate plan is very clear, we believe that the states that are not high tax shouldn t be subsidizing the states that are. we ll get into that conversation and there will be a way for us to get to the bottom line and get tax reform done.
daughters are lost in battle, too. just because he is the highest ranking officer to be killed since the war on terror began. so the president was sitting down with us on radio. and here s what he said. i know this is a big week. how important is getting this budget passed to even get to the tax reform conversation, mr. president? well, it s very important. i mean, we need the budget. we need the passage. we have thad cochran as you know feeling so great. he may not be able to vote. we don t know what john mccain is going to do. we have a couple of others that maybe could disappoint us. maybe they won t. if we get the budget. i think we will be in good shape to get the tax but we have to get the budget. brian: i talked to senator joe manchin yesterday. he says if they could give me a little something, i could deliver six to eight democrats. number one, do you believe that and number two, are you willing to negotiate? we will be talking to joe. i think it s hard for joe to vote
tax reform. if i could say it as simple as possible, i would say that this tax reform conversation is about hashtag keep yo money. but it isn t so simple. number one, there are big pieces of the tax policy framework that are tough to sell in congress. number two, the political stakes are enormous. remember, the president and the republican congress began this year with two big shared goals. repealing obamacare and reforming taxes. the president promised one more first-year big-ticket item. massive infrastructure spending. obamacare repeal is now dead for the year. it won t happen in 2017. infrastructure was never really alive. so as the conservative weekly standard put it regarding the gop s last 2017 hope, tax reform, quote, if the party of free enterprise and low taxes can t pass it, it s not clear what they re there for. that is the stake for the republican party are right annoy, in the sense that you re not going to repeal obamacare
