dollars to our debt. put all of that together and you get an economy that is very, very vulnerable. there was a new study from a sort of center right outfit, but they say that the tariffs have wiped out the tax bill savings for average americans. they were so much at the bottom that just the tariffs that applied already, you are net, net and wiped those out. not from the left, but a centrist think tank that said if all the tariffs go into effect, we are talking about china and the tariffs against mexico. you are talking about a $4,000 bill for the typical american household. it was supposed to be a bonus from the tax cut, but nothing trickled down. this is a $4,000 negative for the typical household. there was something so ridiculous about the president slapping on tariffs, running around yelling about how
it s an old fashioned hard-nosed approach. we are not a college for snowflakes. [applause] a pretty good line. i might use it again. as a result of the recent tax bill savings, our college to our knowledge was the only one in the united states that passed along a bonus to its employees. we hope other colleges will follow us. perhaps through the ivy league. they re a little slower behind us. but they can afford it. we did this because a work college depends on lots of work supervisors to make it operate. and so i brought two employees today. they d like to tell you how they use their unexpected bonus, which they appreciate very much. by the way, we don t view these as crumbs either.
