The House of Representatives has commended the Bureau of Internal Revenue headed by Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay for a rare accomplishment of registering an “all-time high” of 15.14 percent over its collection target amid the severe economic beating the country suffered last year as a result of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

In a recent virtual plenary session, the Lower House unanimously adopted House Resolution No. 1538 congratulating and commending BIR for the uncommon feat of exceeding its goals.
Lawmakers said the BIR chalked up 15 percent or P255.19 billion more in collected revenues over the P1.69 trillion goal for 2020. The revenue agency, thus, contributed P1.94 trillion to government coffers last year.
