Lady Giants earn win over East Peoria

CANTON Despite a lackluster second quarter where the Canton Lady Giants scored only six points, they came out strong in the third, both, offensively and defensively. The Lady Giants forced a number of Lady Raider turnovers and dropped 19 points in the quarter to help them pull away in their 47-37 victory over East Peoria Thursday night.
Bree Williamson started the game off for the Lady Giants with a long three. Ashley Groves then dropped in a bucket which was then followed with a free throw by Williamson. Ella Wheeler then connected on a short jumper to put Canton up 8-6 with just under three minutes to play in the quarter. Tatym Lamprecht of East Peoria then tied the game at eight with a basket of her own. Ashlyn Zedric then dropped two free throws which was followed by Groves who added her second bucket of the quarter to give Canton the 12-8 lead at the end of the first.
