Photographers of Bloom: Mike Waddell | Bloom Magazine

Apr 18, 2021 | Features Mike Waddell. Courtesy photo Mike Waddell has always enjoyed taking photos, but it wasn’t until about 10 years ago that he began to take it seriously. “I got started with nature photography and also developed a real obsession with seeking out abandoned homes and buildings to photograph,” he says. “The photography I was doing suited my more introverted nature well,” he explains. “But over time, I have come to enjoy working with other creative people doing creative portraiture, visual storytelling, and narrative photography, often with a fantastic realism mood.” His work has been exhibited locally at the I Fell, Blueline, Untitled Light, and Tattoo Kaiju galleries, as well as the Monroe County Public Library. In his latest project, “Reverberations,” he uses his own photos of abandoned places and found portraits from the 1940s and earlier to create composites.
