We ve known that a turbo-petrol engine has been coming to the Altroz for a while now, and though its 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine isn t new to us - we ve experienced it (albeit in its full power/torque configuration) in the Nexon before - in the lighter Altroz and paired to a 5-speed gearbox instead of a 6-speed, it promises to be more fun than the regular 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated Altroz, or even the torquey diesel Altroz. But does it live up to the iTurbo badge on its boot?

NEW DELHI: Tata Motors celebrated the first anniversary of the Altroz in style by unveiling the turbo variant of the premium hatch. The Tata Altroz iTurbo not just expands the premium hatchback’s line-up but makes it much more equipped and versatile to take on its new-age rivals.

1. Powerful turbo engine
The key highlight of the Tata Altroz iTurbo is obviously its powerful turbocharged petrol engine. While the standard variant’s petrol engine offers a 1.2-litre Revotron engine that produces 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, the 1.2-litre I-Turbo engine offers 110 PS of power and 140 Nm torque and at much fewer RPMs. Both engines share the displacement of 1199cc.
