Lawyers call for investigation over NSW Police s callous arrest of Aboriginal teen - Hack

Lawyers are calling for the Director of Public Prosecutions to investigate the behaviour of NSW Police officers who arrested an Aboriginal teenager last week, while she was having an anxiety attack. She was later released without charge. The women did nothing wrong and in our opinion the officers conduct should be reviewed to determine whether a crime has been committed, said prominent lawyer George Newhouse, at the National Justice Project, commenting on the footage. It s hard to believe that police could behave so callously in the midst of what was really a medical crisis. There s potential for criminal proceedings to be brought if a complaint is made about the conduct of the police and the use of force was unreasonable, he told Hack.
