Alexander Stubb (NCP) received 27.2 per cent and Haavisto 25.8 per cent of the almost 3,250,000 votes cast in the first round of the elections. The gap between the two candidates advancing to the second round has not been as narrow as this since 1994, reveals an analysis by Helsingin Sanomat.
