Jennifer Lindsay Manuel, 38, is charged with possession of a restricted firearm in relation to a shooting at the Hospitality Inn on Columbia Street West. Neighbours in the area awoke to four gunshots in quick succession on the October morning, which prompted a heavy police response and an order to place local schools on hold and secure notices. At the time of the shooting, RCMP received reports that there were multiple people in the motel parking lot, but police were unable to locate a suspect when they arrived.

May 12, 2021 - 10:52 AM Kamloops RCMP are asking the public to stay clear of an area on the North Shore, but aren t releasing many details. There is a heavy police presence in the Wood Street and Hilltop Avenue area, according to an RCMP media release. RCMP do not say what is being investigating, but do say there is no danger to the public as officers from the Targeted Enforcement Unit and heavily armed officers from the Emergency Response Team are on the scene. Traffic may be temporarily rerouted as police continue their investigation, RCMP said. Kamloops RCMP said an update will be provided once officers have cleared the scene.
