The police have nabbed nine suspects who allegedly kidnapped a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Mohammed Bape, last December.
The suspects were reportedly apprehended at their various hideouts in Taraba and Plateau States following an intense search by the police team.
The gang members were among the 48 suspects paraded in Abuja on Thursday, according to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba.
The gang members include, Yusuf Abubakar, 31; Muntari Umar, 27; Ahmadu Dahiru, 28;Ali Wurungo, 25; Buhari Nuhu, 25; Mohd Garba, 30; Yusuf Jibrillah, 23; Adamu Ahmadu aka Bulala 32 and one Idi Suleiman.

Following the launch of ‘Operation Puff Adder II’ by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu on 15th February 2021, to reinvigorate the ongoing fight against violent crimes in the country and bring the perpetrators to book, operatives of the FIB Intelligence Response Team and Special Tactical Squad of the Force have arrested 48 criminal suspects.
The criminal elements are made up of 47 male and one female, for their involvement and indictment in cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms, cybercrime/financial fraud and other heinous crimes in some parts of the country.

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, on Saturday castigated the Muhammadu Buhari-led government for failing to secure Nigerians and called for strata of security agencies to be broken.
The governor disclosed this when he paid a condolence visit to the residence of the late Ardo-Kola Local Government Area chairman, who was recently kidnapped and murdered.

A bill with stiffer penalties for perpetrators of domestic violence has passed through the first reading at the Taraba State House of Assembly.
Speaker of the House, Joseph Kunini, who sponsored the bill disclosed this when he hosted journalists in Jalingo.
The bill when passed into law, according to the Speaker will help reduce incidences of domestic and political violence in the state as offenders will face sanctions of up to 14 years in prison without an option of fine.
Kunini noted that the heinous crimes against vulnerable individuals in the society was becoming increasingly worrisome and assuming an alarming dimension.
