We were running around the world covering humanitarian crises and then we would periodically go back to my beloved hometown where my mom is still on the family farm and we saw a humanitarian crisis unfolding there. A quarter of the kids on my old Number Six School bus are now gone from drugs and alcohol and suicide and carolyn i tried to process that.
