evidence basis. we re going to let the economy and the data that comes in really inform how we approach our interest rate policy as well as our tapering policy. we ll be ready. we re not going to let inflation get out of control. we ve seen gas prices rise the last year. is this driving inflation or is the supply chain issue driving it or is there something else that is driving inflation? well, i would say first of all, it s covid that is driving the inflation. one of the things that we ve seen is covid has really disrupted supply. so there s supply chain issues all over the economy. covid has caused a lot of american families to not be able to spend the way they had through their first 1 1/2 years of the pandemic. that pent up demand is revealing itself to the marketplace. if you have higher demand and less supply, you re going to see inflation. so one of the things i m really looking at is to what extent can
