big time. tgif, everybody. all right. let s get started. we begin with the ownership whirlwind surrounding the l.a. clippers. the wife of disgraced owner donald sterling is making it clear she wants to retain her 50% stake in the club. that brings new questions of another recording of a conversation involving donald sterling. abc s ryan smith has the details. reporter: this is l.a. clippers owner donald sterling playing defense. you think i have anything in the world but love for everybody? you don t think that. you know i m not a racist. reporter: his first extended comment since that racist rant to v. stiviano earned him a lifetime ban from the nba. it bother mess a lot if you want to broadcast that you are associating with black people. reporter: in this new tape a recorded phone call with an unnamed friend, leaked to radar on-line, he points to his background and religion as proof he s not prejudice. i got out of east l.a. i was the president of the high

a few hours later, some activity began in watertown, massachusetts, 4 1/2 miles outside of cambridge away from cambridge and officials say there was a fire fight between two suspects and a number of law enforcement officers. we played a tape a short while ago, a home video of what appeared to be that fire fight. witnesses also reported hearing a number of explosions. we spoke to one eyewitness who said he saw the two suspects tossing what seemed hand grenades and at one point even what appeared to be a pressure cooker bomb at law enforcement officials. now, at this time, we can confirm that one person has been taken into custody. we don t know if there s a second person who has taken into custody. but it appears one person is in custody. the question that everyone is asking is whether or not what happened tonight is related to the bombings earlier this week
we did when we spoke yesterday. in terms of speculation, where is your head taking you with this investigation? well, piers, i keep on going back and forth. you know, i think it could be a domestic group or a psychotic. but i ve been talking to people in afghanistan and analysts around washington. and they re looking at al qaeda. and the way they re explaining it is that zawahiri made a tape a couple days ago in which could have been a coded message for operatives in this country to strike. again, this is speculation analysis. in particular, he s been pushing for taking retaliation for the drone strikes in pack stab pakistan and yemen. going to his people and saying we ve got to hit back at these people. when i give the signal, let s do it. they re putting two and two together. whether it equals four or not, i don t know. but they re just looking at the mass casualties, patriots day. a national holiday.
