DAR ES SALAAM, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) At least 1,158 people were killed and 2,089 others injured in road accidents in Tanzania in the first 11 months of this year, police said on Monday.
Liberatus Sabas, the police commissioner for operations and training, said in a statement that a total of 1,800 traffic accidents were recorded during the period.
He said over the same period last year, a total of 2,722 road accidents occurred, killing 1,329 people and wounding 2,717.
According to David Misime, the spokesperson for the Tanzania Police Force, more than 75 percent of road accidents in Tanzania are caused by negligence and human errors. Enditem
