The Lockdown Window Exhibition display in SerenArts Gallery RESIDENTS in Melksham are being asked to put their arts and crafts skills to good use as part of an initiative to brighten up life during lockdown. The town has been invited to join a growing collection of people exhibiting their creations in their windows. Melksham Town Council is urging residents to take part in the Lockdown Window Exhibition Challenge which launched in Bradford on Avon last month. The project was started by professional artist Tanya Achilleos Lock, from the Corner Gallery and Workshops near the Bradford on Avon Tithe Barn, who said: The idea came from seeing all those rainbows in the windows. I thought, why can’t a similar thing be done to support local artists.
The Lockdown Window Exhibition display in SerenArts Gallery ARTS and craft workshops in Bradford on Avon are pulling together to host a window-displayed exhibition where walkers can view local wares in a safe, socially distanced environment. The exhibition includes work from painters, potters, sculptors, photographers and potters, and will have a weekly rotation of products for locals to enjoy at a distance. The initiative was launched by local artist, Tanya Achilleos Lock, of the Corner Gallery, near the Barton Farm Country Park and Tithe Barn, who is hoping it will go nationwide. She said: The initiative is in aid of local businesses forced to forfeit profits due to lockdown restrictions, as well as bringing walkers a little bit of joy.
