Six members of a Texas family are dead after two brothers allegedly carried out an apparent mass murder-suicide pact, local police have said.
Officers of the Allen Police Department found the family dead with gunshot wounds in their Pine Bluff Drive home on Monday just before 1 a.m. when they attempted to perform a welfare check, KTVT reported.

Six people were found fatally shot in a suburban Dallas home early Monday after police say two brothers made a pact to kill four family members and themselves.
Police in Allen, Texas, said investigators believe brothers Tanvir Towhid, 21, and Farhan Towhid, 19, made a pact to kill their parents, sister and grandmother before killing themselves. The bodies were found early Monday by officers performing a welfare check, Sgt. Jon Felty said.
“It appears that the two brothers had entered into an agreement,” Felty said.
The victims were identified as Altafun Nessa, 77; Iren Islam, 56; Towhidul Islam, 54; and Farbin Towhid, 19.

Felty said one of the two brothers wrote a lengthy post on social media in which he said he and his brother had a plan to kill their family members and then themselves. He also wrote that all of his decisions were based on weighing pros and cons, including the decision to kill his family.

Farhan Towhid, a chronically depressed 19-year-old Texan who formed a murder-suicide pact with his older brother and killed their parents, sister and grandmother over the weekend, was raised in a religious Muslim family but acted against his faith, according to Hasmat Mobin, president of the Bangladesh Association of North Texas.
“He was a . religious person. He used to go to mosque. He used to go up to different places. His father used to take him. In the ninth grade, his problems [with depression] started,” Mobin, who believes the strain of the COVID-19 pandemic on Farhan’s mental health could also have played a role, explained to The Christian Post on Tuesday.
