Various regional organizations in Karnataka have called for a statewide shutdown on September 29, 2023, in protest of the Cauvery water issue. The shutdown, known as Karnataka Bandh , is expected to impact daily life, particularly in the southern part of the state. Protests and rallies are planned, with participants aiming to shut down highways, toll gates, rail services, and airports. The opposition BJP and JD(S) parties, as well as other associations, have expressed their support for the shutdown. However, the State Transport Department has instructed transport corporations to continue normal services.
