Government To Construct Between 100,000 To 250,000 Housing Unit Yearly

  Dr (Mrs) Freda Prempeh, Minister of State in-charge of Works and Housing at the weekend reaffirmed government’s commitment to bridge the housing gab in the country under the affordable housing project. She indicated that the government intended to construct between 100,000 to 250,000 housing units every year to provide affordable residential accommodation for public and civil servants. Dr (Mrs) Prempeh, also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North Constituency in the Ahafo Region, said this when she and a delegation from the State Housing Company (SHC) inspected acres of lands secured by the SHC to start the affordable housing project in the Ahafo Region.

Affordable Housing Project To Commence In Ahafo Region This Year – Minister

  The government is finalising documentations to commence work on the construction of affordable housing project in the Ahafo Region, Dr (Mrs) Freda Prempeh, the Minister of State in-charge of Works and Housing has said. She explained that the State Housing Company (SHC) had secured 250 acres of land at Duayaw-Nkwanta (100 acres), Tanoso (50 acres) and Yamfo (100 acres) in the Tano North Municipality and contracts would be awarded for work to begin by the close of the year. The Minister expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people of the towns for releasing lands, saying the nationwide affordable housing project would help address the two million housing deficit in the country.

I Will Make Agriculture Attractive In The Bono East Region – Minister

  Mr Kwesi Adu Gyan, Bono East Regional Minister, has expressed a commitment to making agriculture attractive to the youth in the region.      He noted that the youth were the driving force for national development and needed to be empowered through agriculture.      The region is the fourth largest agriculture producer in the country with over 95 per cent of land suitable for commercial agriculture.     Mr Gyan, who was briefing the media at Techiman in the Bono Region, explained that a long stretch of the Volta River, which serves as a natural boundary to the North and South-Eastern corner, provided a huge potential for aqua-culture.
