Juniors and female anglers challenged the men for category wins and glory despite inclement weather at another successful Boyne Tannum Hookup.
Australia’s biggest family fishing competition saw 3666 fishos from across the nation hit the water, vying for $400,000 worth of cash and prizes from April 30 to May 2.
Boyne Tannum Hookup president Jenifer McGuire said after the 2020 Hookup was held virtually due to COVID, anglers of all ages were keen to enter.
“Hookup started 26 years-ago with Boyne Tannum business owners highlighting that the area needed something to keep people in the region over a long weekend,” she said.

Catches are being reeled and weighed in on the second day of the 2021 Boyne Tannum Hookup, as 3500 plus anglers battle for more than $400,000 in cash and prizes.
After the COVID pandemic relegated the 2020 Hookup to an online only competition, Vice-President Andrew Davis said it was fantastic for anglers to be hitting the water chasing glory.
Despite some inclement weather on Friday, Mr Davis said the 2021 Hookup was already putting smiles on the faces of people young and old.
“It is fantastic to see Australia’s biggest family fishing competition on again after the COVID pandemic,” he said.

After six years, Boyne Tannum HookUp president Jennifer McGuire has stepped down from her role.
Ms McGuire has decided to leave her role as president to help support her family in the coming years.
The Boyne Tannum HookUp has become Australia’s biggest family fishing competition, and has attracted thousands of anglers since 1996.
Ms McGuire took on the presidency role in 2015, after the previous committee retired on the event’s 20th anniversary.
Ms McGuire, along with Adam Baulkin and Dave Lindley, formed the new committee.
“Being a big fishing family, I stepped forward and said I was happy to contribute,” Ms McGuire said.
