Trent, Werts top Lewis and Clark finishers

GODFREY Larry Trent and incumbent Dwight Werts won seats on the Lewis and Clark Community College Board of Trustees, according to incomplete and unofficial results Tuesday evening.
With all but one precinct in Madison County in, Trent was the top vote-getter receiving 10,605 votes. Werts received 10,403.
Challenger Jack Holmes had 7,908 votes, and Jeffrey D. Ferguson 6,866.
Both Trent and Werts scored decisive victories in Madison County, with each receiving more than 7,200 votes. Holmes and Ferguson scored less than 5,000 each.
The race was closer in Macoupin, Jersey, Greene and Calhoun counties.
