The explosion of COVID-19 cases in India has generated a massive humanitarian crisis, resulting in unimaginable suffering and mass death.
According to India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, COVID-19 claimed the lives of 254,197 people on May 12. Meanwhile, the Johns Hopkins University and Medicine dashboard revealed there were 348,421 new cases reported that same day in India. On May 6, the developing country reported 414,188 new cases, setting a new global record for the most cases in a single day.
