The series was recognized in the chapter’s inaugural “Best” awards program that was launched to “highlight excellence, inclusion and creativity.” Also recognized in the competition were a number of Greater Springfield area professionals and educators who received awards. The competition was judged by the association’s national staff in New York City.

Arise for Social Justice, Clinical and Support Options, the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, the Springfield Food Policy Council, Springfield No One Leaves, and Womanshelter/Compañeras were selected for their focus on working to prevent homelessness, food insecurity, and to aid survivors of domestic or sexual violence during the pandemic.

Charlie Baker on Wednesday to reject rule changes favorable to the project. Protesters gathered outside the state office building on Dwight Street, presenting a petition to Baker signed by 38 organizations. The petition demanded that Baker withdraw proposed amendments to the state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard that ”would allow inefficient and dirty biomass power plants like the (Palmer Renewable Energy) plant to qualify as renewable energy in Massachusetts and collect millions of dollars in subsidies each year.”

The digital event held on Zoom drew more than 100 people.
