The 61st Bologna Children s Book Fair kicked off in Italy on Monday with the participation of 1,500 exhibitors from around 100 countries and regions across the world. As the Market of Focus country this year, China, is hosting a number of events to promote Chinese children s books overseas as well as highlight the rise and influence of China s publishing industry on the international stage.
In late July, authors and readers gathered at a book expo in Jinan, East China s Shandong Province, to exchange views on a book series about pioneering Chinese figures. Paying tribute to individuals from various fields who have made significant contributions to the nation, the series has captured the interest of young readers with engaging narratives, with a total of 13.81 million copies having been distributed in the Chinese mainland in four years.
At a conference on Wednesday, the Supreme People's Court discussed ways of better protecting minors and stressed the importance of making public details of those who sexually assault children.
