Park City voters waiting to decide between Mayor Andy Beerman and the challenger for the mayor’s office, Park City Councilor Nann Worel, have just a short time to make a selection. Election Day, with two City Council seats also on the ballot, is Tuesday.
Mayor Andy Beerman and opponent City Councilor Nann Worel raised extraordinary sums of money during the campaign, financial reports submitted to City Hall show. Beerman by Tuesday had raised nearly $65,000 while Worel brought in nearly $54,000 during the same timeframe.
Our view: As Parkites labor over their ballots, they can be assured that they’ll be represented well at City Hall over the next four years no matter who is elected. But three of the candidates have set themselves apart.
“It is a wild thing, participating in a small-town election like ours. I was invited into homes, chased off porches, slapped high-fives, attacked by dogs, offered mezcal, and had my signs stolen,” writes John Greenfield, a former Park City Council candidate.
Thomas Purcell ended a campaign for the Park City Council in October, but his name remains on the ballot since the withdrawal occurred after they were printed.
