ILEARN sees proficiency fall
ASHLEY SLOBODA | The Journal Gazette
Less than 30% of Indiana students in grades 3 through 8 are proficient in English language arts and math, according to standardized test results released Wednesday.
Indiana Secretary of Education Katie Jenner cautioned judgment of ILEARN scores showing 40.5% proficiency in English, 37% proficiency in math and 29% proficiency in both subjects.
“This data cannot be an indictment on anyone, on anything, on any school,” Jenner said. “The reality is all of us had a global pandemic.”
In 2019 – the last year ILEARN was administered – about 47.9% of students were deemed proficient in English and 47.8% in math. Just 37.1% passed both.
Lynch and his wife were looking for top-notch maternal care to welcome their firstborn. A co-worker of mine said, Why don t you try Women s Hospital in Greensboro? he explained.
He doesn t regret it. Shortly after Kalie s birth, she needed emergency treatment for severe jaundice. And, I ll never forget that night where the doctors came and told us she may not survive the night, he remembered.
She did. Their story is now one of many, cementing the hospital s legacy for tiny miracles until 2020.
In February that year, Women s Hospital packed up shop for a new location at the Cone Health Moses Cone campus nearby. The Green Valley building fell silent.but not for long. Its biography was about to write an epilogue.
FEARS have been expressed that Barrow town centre will turn into a ‘ghost town’ after the closure of another shop. The British Red Cross charity shop on the corner of Dalton Road and Cavendish Street closed earlier this month after the occupants announced they would not be renewing their lease. Tracey Pickering, regional retail manager for the British Red Cross in the north of England, said: “We are actively looking for a new site for our shop in Barrow in Furness. “The lease on our shop in Dalton Road is up and it will not be re-opening. “We would like to thank everyone in the town for bearing with us and we look forward to welcoming you all into a new shop as soon as we possibly can.”
