ZAMBOANGA CITY - A town official in Lanao del Sur has turned over three high-powered firearms, yielded to him by residents, to military authorities as the government continues its campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms. The firearms- two M-16 Armalite rifles and caliber 5.56-millimeter Bushmaster- were turned over on Wednesday by Mayor Juhar Disomimba of Tamparan to Lt. Col. Victor-Czar Villanueva, 5th Infantry Battalion chief. In a statement Saturday, Villanueva said Disomimba together with the Tamparan police brought the firearms to his headquarters at Kampo Agila in Barangay Ragayan, Poona Bayabao. The firearms were surrendered to Disomimba by residents amid the campaign against loose firearms. Brig. Gen.
