3 high-powered firearms surrendered in Lanao town

ZAMBOANGA CITY - A town official in Lanao del Sur has turned over three high-powered firearms, yielded to him by residents, to military authorities as the government continues its campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms. The firearms- two M-16 Armalite rifles and caliber 5.56-millimeter Bushmaster- were turned over on Wednesday by Mayor Juhar Disomimba of Tamparan to Lt. Col. Victor-Czar Villanueva, 5th Infantry Battalion chief. In a statement Saturday, Villanueva said Disomimba together with the Tamparan police brought the firearms to his headquarters at Kampo Agila in Barangay Ragayan, Poona Bayabao.
