Many pictures of children and infants being hosed off, which is typically what we see when theres a chemical attack. Many have the paralyzed stares that we have come to know. But it is not severe what that i have been told. State media is denying reports. We know th
Is in the hard hit city of panama city. Matt bradley is in the states capitol in tallahassee. Let me start with you, kerry. First of all, what are we seeing in panama city right now . Reporter let me just sort of paint the picture. You see this boat turned up on its edge, and you can see in the background an entire debris field. What im going to do is take you out here to really show the power of this hurricane, and i suspect likely, although this is yet to be confirmed, a tornado. Let me step back here and just sort of look up at this boat warehouse here that was completely ripped and torn apart. Now, if you come with me, lets go down, and you can actually peek inside to get an idea of, there was no storm surge here. This was all wind damage. Remember, we have gusts clocked a the t at top speed of 155 miles an hour. Some of the boats still on the rack, the twists and turns, the roof here that is off. Then as we go even further down, and were going to walk out and around some of the de
Recession. But first, to my friend alley velshi. Walk me through exactly where we are, what the state of things are in myrtle beach where youre located, but really across the region. Yeah. Well, walk is actually the right terminology because this storm is moving more slowly than i can walk it. Its moving at about 5 Miles Per Hour. To most people, we associate these storms with the fast numbers and the big numbers so people say whats the problem with 5 miles an hour . Well, the winds have dropped to 50 Miles Per Hour. In other words, its rotating. But the difficult is that it is moving so slowly that it is dumping this rain in some regions for more than 24 hours. If we go way up to North Carolina where joe friar is theyve been seeing rains for much more than 24 hours. So that is the problem. The rain gets into the saturated soil. There has been a lot of rain around here. So it topples trees, it topples power lines. In North Carolina, theres a lot of estuaries. So they rise with tides an

That means there are dangers inland and for places like raleigh and charlotte. This storm came on shore yesterday morning just east of wilmington, North Carolina. I want to go to wilmington right now. As you know they were preparing for a serious rain event. What they got instead were hurricane forced winds. We know downed trees litter this entire city. We were with the mayor and there were so many downed trees it was difficult for First Responders to get around. The power is out to this entire city. 775,000 people across the region without power. That number could grow in the coming days. Its going to be difficult for power crews because theres so many downed trees. Getting the lights back on is going to take several days if not week. The trees have sliced through many homes. Thats another issue. Its not
