Stephens Auditorium, ACTORS win award for collaboration during COVID-19

While theaters across the country were going dark because of COVID-19, Stephens Auditorium and Ames Community Theater (ACTORS) teamed up to help one another keep going. Both entities have recently been recognized for that collaboration with an award from Iowa tourism organizations.
The Outstanding Marketing Collaboration award was presented to ACTORS and Stephens Auditorium by the Iowa Tourism Office and Travel Federation of Iowa on April 28 during the 2021 Iowa Tourism Conference in Des Moines.
Teaming up was good in many ways for both Ames organizations.
ACTORS benefited from having a grand stage for performances while its theater in west Ames was undergoing a $580,000 addition and renovation.
Stephens Auditorium executive director earns industry accolades

Despite pandemic, ACTORS thrives, sees major renovation to theater

Ames Community Theater is the only community theater in central Iowa that didn’t go dark during the pandemic.
The group, better known as ACTORS, also moved forward the past several months with a $580,000 addition and renovation to its building, which will be complete in March.
ACTORS board president Stan Rabe will be the keynote speaker in the Ames Community Arts Council’s monthly Gathering of Artists, which will be held via Zoom on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
