largely define how the next six or nine months of the presidency go. do you think we asked this question earlier, do you think those wavering republicans in the house maybe even wavering senators, we hear he might be going down to kentucky, rand paul in kentucky right now, opposing this thing. do you think donald trump has the political clout within the republican party right now to twist arms and bring them around? i mean, i think he s the most likely candidate to do that. he s the only person with arguably a national constituency, the only person who could potentially bring republicans in line, there are very sincere, i think differences between republicans, but ultimately, the presidential endorsement was probably the best thing that could have happened to this legislation yesterday from the perspective of the congressional leadership because without that, this literally wasn t going anywhere. even as a platform for discussion about reform of the health care system going forwa
trumpcare is finally public. and each hour that goes by brings a new set of concerns and new groups that oppose the bill. trumpcare is the health care bill that forgot about women. simply put, trumpcare is a mess for the american people. we democrats will fight it tooth and nail. all right. as republicans continue to try to get on the same page about that new health care bill, democrats have a name for it, they are calling it trumpcare. you just heard him there. chuck schumer, he used that term 15 times today in a floor speech that lasted just five minutes. but with majorities in both the house and the senate, republicans need few, if any democrats, to get this legislation passed. if they can all get on the same page. joining us now, senator tammie baldwin, she is a democrat from wisconsin. senator, thanks for joining us. thank you, steve. one of the objections here from some republicans, from some conservative republicans to this, they say, this is
approach to repeal is not only short sided, it makes america less healthy. obamacare is one of the democratic party s signature achievements of the last few generations, but do they have any power to save it now? i ll ask wisconsin senator tammie baldwin, she is going to join me next. plus a reality check for democrats. yes, president trump s numbers are historically low for a new president, but, the democratic party is even less popular. it s one of many eye-opening results from a new poll. you re going want to see these numbers, stay with us. i m so frustrated. i just want to find a used car without getting ripped off. you could start your search at the all-new carfax.com that might help. show me the carfax. now the car you want and the history you need are easy to find. show me used trucks with one owner. pretty cool. enthusiasm that i am seeing in my constituency, not necessarily on a partisan basis, but on a citizen basis. people certainly do want answers to these questions about russia, but they are much more vocal about concerns that they may lose health insurance or find it unaffordable because of this new trumpcare proposal. they are very concerned about some of the things they are hearing with regard to trump s budget. and they certainly are angry as all get out that he has promised things like by america and hasn t stood by his promises day after day. so they want me here holding him accountable on all of those fronts. all right. senator tammie baldwin from wisconsin, thanks for the time. thank you. okay, and at the white house this afternoon, first lady melaa trumpoing a luncheon in honor of international women s day. guests included ivanka tru and betsy devos, the education secretary. also the international
there was some playful bantering going on. there is, i don t know how long that will last. what was interesting today when he came out withdrawing the u.s. from the tpp agreement, you had several democrats coming up and supporting him. democrats like bernie sanders, tammie baldwin, others who are again from these states. and it was interesting too that democrats like nancy pelosi have been kind of almost taking credit or trying to take credit for trump s stance on this. saying democrats have been there for a long time. you know, thanks for joining us, which is really interesting because obviously tpp is a huge obama legacy item. but i think you re going to find some areas where they can agree and work on things together, infrastructure, of course is another one. but what that looks like and especially against the backdrop of all of these protests. the imperative to work for the the president is there but for most, not really. all right. we are at the enof the hour unfortunately, bu
