Approximately 800 passengers were left stranded at a railway station after heavy rain triggered flooding in parts of Tamil Nadu. Here's how the stranded passengers were safely evacuated by the authorities over the past two days.
Tamil Nadu Rains: As per IMD reports, Thiruchendur in the Tuticorin District witnessed 60 cm of rain in just 15 hours till 1:30 AM and Palayamkottai in Tirunelveli District recorded 26 AM rainfall. Similarly, Kanyakumari also witnessed 17.3 cm of rainfall.
The Chennai Meteorological Centre has predicted moderate thunderstorms, lightning and rainfall in 12 districts of Tamil Nadu today as cyclone Michaung intensifies in the Bay of Bengal.
Heavy showers are forecasted in Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts in the next two to three days, with several locations reporting heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours.
