KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Tuesday, the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners voted to open volunteer positions on the new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Community Advisory Committee.
According to County Documents, the agenda item would allow for the creation of this task force, of which nine positions are held.
“Creation of a 9 member Community Committee who will assist the Internal Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council with advancing DEI efforts and other subcommittees and focus groups as requested. Appointments to the committee will ensure that representation reflects the diverse community of Kalamazoo County.”

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Tuesday, the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners reviewed its priorities for the year 2021.
According to officials, the county boardâs agenda includes increasing housing options, keeping the Justice Facility project on track, and strengthening Kalamazoo County Governments diversity and inclusion policies.
âOur residents come first, which is why we listen to their feedback and engage with the community so we can ensure Kalamazoo County Government is providing quality and consistent programs and services,â Kalamazoo County Board Chair Tracy Hall said in a statement. âVoters made it clear they support the county helping residents obtain permanent, affordable housing, which is why we are committed to creating solutions.â

KALAMAZOO, MI The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners elected Tracy Hall to serve as board chair and Tami Rey to serve as vice chair during the Tuesday, Jan. 5 meeting.
Hall was first elected chair mid‐year last year. Rey will be serving her first term as vice chair.
“I am honored to be chosen as board chair and look forward to continuing to serve the residents of Kalamazoo County,” Hall said in a prepared statement. “There’s no doubt 2020 was a challenging year for many of us, so let’s treat 2021 as a clean slate to focus on extraordinary county business. That starts with working together on behalf of constituents.”
