The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has advised members of the public that because of blockages – caused by debris – affecting raw water pumps at the Waila Water Treatment Plant, it has been unable to produce enough safe water to ensure all reservoirs had sufficient water to service their respective areas.
The authority stated that the high turbidity levels had also been recorded at its Tamavua Water Treatment Plant.
It stated that teams had carried out emergency works to remedy this.
However, it added that until water levels normalised, customers living in affected would experience disruptions in their water supply.
Mar 12, 2021 08:42:35 AM The Water Authority of Fiji claims the National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad has very little understanding of the basic science of treating water. Water Authority of Fiji chairman Bhavesh Kumar said Prasad has very little understanding of the technical aspects of water treatment and services for this country. Kumar in a statement said teams are working long hours to provide water to Fijians around the country when the aging infrastructure breaks. He said their infrastructure which was built decades ago, was not designed to cater to the 600, 000 people living in the central division. His comments come after Prasad questioned the continued disruptions to the water supply that is now being experienced in the central division.
