St Louis homicide rate in 2020 highest in 50 years with 262 killings

ST. LOUIS — On the last day of 2020, St. Louis leaders read 262 names aloud from a church podium — each name representing a person killed in the city over the previous 12 months. We are hurting from the trauma it causes.”

And, unlike a parallel study of the St. Louis County Police Department, relatively little mention was made of a racial divide in the city’s police force, Taylor said.
