BUTTERWORTH: The Sessions Court here Friday set May 28 for mention of the corruption and money laundering cases involving former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, his wife Betty Chew Gek Cheng and businesswoman Phang Li Koon.
Judge Ahmad Azhari Abdul Hamid set the date after lawyers RSN Rayer, representing Lim and his wife, and A. Ruben Kumar, representing Phang, applied to be given three months to examine the more than 1,000-page documents that were submitted when the matter came up for case management Friday.
Deputy public prosecutors Syafiq Hasim and Ashrof Adrin Kamarul appeared for the prosecution.

Judge Ahmad Azhari Abdul Hamid set the date after lawyers RSN Rayer, representing Lim and his wife, and A Ruben Kumar, representing Phang, applied to be given three months to examine the more than 1,000-page documents that were submitted when the matter came up for case management today.
Deputy Public Prosecutors (DPPs) Syafiq Hasim and Ashrof Adrin Kamarul appeared for the prosecution.
However, all three accused were not in court as they had been exempted from attending today’s proceedings.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Syafiq Hasim informed Sessions Court Judge Ahmad Azhari Abdul Hamid this during the case management on Friday (Dec 18).
He also told the court that the prosecution would submit five more documents, along with more than 100 other documents that had been submitted previously, in the form of hard copy, as requested by the defence.
Lawyer RSN Rayer, representing Lim and Betty, did not object to it and the court set Feb 19 for mention, as had been agreed by both parties.
