FG to ensure good conduct of statutory marriages in Nigeria, says Aregbesola

Photo: TWITTER/RAUFAREGBESOLA The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the good conduct of statutory marriages in the country. x Aregbesola, who made this known at the 2021 National Stakeholders’ Conference on the Administration of Statutory Marriage, on Friday, in Abuja, said this had become imperative due to the prevailing challenges associated with marriages in the country. Represented by the Permanent Secretary, in the ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, the minister noted that the ministry was responsible for the conduct of statutory marriages in Nigeria, as well as licensing of public places of worship for the celebration of statutory marriages.

A letter from the National Insurance Commission to the Nigerian Insurers Association on Thursday which was obtained by our correspondent gave the indications. The letter was signed by the Legal Adviser, NAICOM, Talmiz Usman, titled ‘Re: Segmentation of minimum paid up share capital of insurance companies in Nigeria: Appeal for waver of December 2020 milestone, and was addressed to the director-general of the NIA. The NIA had earlier written a letter to NAICOM which was received and acknowledged by the commission on Tuesday.
