Huerta received $1,500 from the Oregon Arts Commission to support a professional development and training opportunity with master Charros and Talabarteros (leatherworkers) in Ciudad Guzman, Jalisco, Mexico, in spring/summer 2021. Four local artists are part of the first of two rounds of the Oregon Arts Commission and The Ford Family Foundation’s Career Opportunity Program grant awards. The organizations awarded $82,305 to 24 Oregon artists for career development projects.This total includes $33,515 from the Oregon Arts Commission and $48,790 in supplemental funding through a partnership with The Ford Family Foundation’s Visual Arts Program. Individual grants ranged from $500 to $8,500.
