An unnamed 12-year-old girl from Alabama was found Monday morning, after she had escaped from her alleged kidnapper, José Paulino Pascual-Reyes. A motorist on a rural roadway saw the girl walking alone, and called authorities. An investigation began soon after and police took Pascual-Reyes into custody. Court documents describe markings on the girl’s wrists, indicating she had been restrained. The girl was drugged with alcohol, but she was able to chew through her rope restraints to escape. Investigators found two bodies in the mobile home of Pascual-Reyes, and officials expect the number of charges against the suspect to increase. The 12-year-old girl is recovering, though authorities note that despite being kidnapped for a week, she was never reported as missing. Further details about the girl’s identity and her relation to the suspect are not being disclosed at this time, though it’s expected that more information will be released later this week.
