I have a little bit of medical experience and to see they have effectively a robotic soldier that can go into defib, whose eyes can dilate, they can do pulses both radial and distal and there is a programmer who is effectively testing a battlefield soldier what to do, i found absolutely fascinating as a way to bring a real Life Experience to that individual. For me that was a fantastic tool that you have and i thought that was wonderful. Artist when the Program Began in 1972. How does a person become a street artist . There are two major tenants. You must make the work yourself and you must sell the work yourself. A street artist, the license, then submitting the work to a committee of artists. This committee actually watches them make the work in front of them so that we can verify that it is all their own work. What happened during the holiday to make this an exciting location . This would be a magic time of year. You would probably see this place is jammed with street artists. As the no, there is a lottery held at 6 in the morning. That is how sought after the spaces are. You might get as many as 150 street artists to show up for 50 spaces. What other areas can a licensed street artist go to . They can go to the Fishermans Wharf area. They can go in and around union square. We have space is now up in the castro, in fact. How many are there . We have about 420. Are they here all year round . Out of the 420, i know 15
Across the street, we had the highest vacancy commercial rate in the city. What we are seeing now at midmarket is that Everyone Wants to be here now. Of course what that means that Everyone Wants to be here, what does that mean for the Arts Community that has always been here. This is going to keep artist and the Artist Organization here. It was great to work with the California Community loan funds and the office of Economic Development to make this a reality. Over the past couple of year with hard work and procuring money and Property Owners we were able to procure these sites to ensure the arts remain here permanently. This is a huge effort. Its not just the elected officials that get to stay here. Its the main Market Community that holds this together. Whether its the collaborative that continues to advocates for Public Safety and all of you that make this a viable and dynamic and Exciting Community and diverse. Thats the challenge here.
